How to Plan Base Cabinets for a Kitchen
Base cabinets set the working height of the kitchen. ECG bases are 34-1/2" high and 24" deep, so a standard 1-1/2" countertop lands at the common 36" counter height.
- Match the sink base to the sink: SB30, SB33 or SB36, or FSB36 for a farm sink
- Put a drawer base (DB) next to the range for pots and utensils
- Use a lazy susan (LSB) or blind corner (BBC) to use the corner
- Fill narrow gaps with a 6", 9" or 12" base spice rack
Every ECG base cabinet sits on a recessed kick space, the toe recess at the floor that lets you stand close to the counter. A matching TK8 toe kick (4" x 96") covers it, and crown molding finishes the wall cabinets above the run.

Base Cabinets: Common Questions
How tall and deep are ECG base cabinets?
All ECG base cabinets are 34-1/2" high without countertop. Standard bases are 24" deep.
What is the difference between a B and a B…FH base?
A B base has a drawer over the door. A full height (FH) base has a single tall door with no drawer, for open storage under the counter.
Which corner base should I choose?
A lazy susan (LSB33 or LSB36) gives the easiest access in an L-shaped corner. A blind corner base (BBC36-42 or BBC42-45) fits when one run needs to stay shorter.
How many base cabinets does a 10-foot kitchen wall need?
Usually four or five. A 120" run can be an SB36 sink base, a DB18-3 drawer base, a B30 and a B36 (36 + 18 + 30 + 36 = 120"); ECG widths step in 3", and a filler takes up any leftover inches.
